We grew up watching people on screen who thought what we thought, but looked nothing like us. And when they did look like us, aka Bollywood, they thought nothing like us. And since we were the first generation growing up in Canada, nobody told us how difficult it would be to make sense of this binary experience we were having traversing two diametrically opposed cultures. By the time we were old enough to understand that many of our challenges came from being both Canadian and Indian, an inner war had already been well-established. This script gives a voice to many of our inner and outer conflicts. The author's hope is that you will see yourself in these stories, and will continue the dialogue to help normalize the fact that 'brown people can do, and be, anything'. It doesn't matter how you show up - hetero-mono-cis or queer-poly-trans, don't worry, you're Indian enough.
